Emilee had her yearly Genetics appointment today. She has been officially discharged from the clinic. When she first started seeing them they did bloodwork a few times looking for different things that can sometimes be associated with Pierre Robin Sequence. All of her labs have always come back normal with no weird mutations. Her doctor said that there are no obvious signs of social or develpmental problems so unless we just insisted on further investigating with more labs then there was no reason for her to need to come back to see them unless we have any concerns that come up in the future. That's one less doctor in Houston. YAY! Of course once she is an adult she may choose to persue more testing to be sure there isn't some genetic abnormality going on, but that's a decision that she can make on her own when the time comes. (Let's not think that far into the future. I already ask her on a regular basis where my baby went.)
Since she did well at the appointment we told her that we would take her over to Hermann park and ride the train, and of course she could take Maecee on her first train ride. =)
Emilee has been wanting to go to the park for the last couple of days because she heard me and her daddy talking about taking her, so of course every time that she saw some play equipment she wanted to get off of the train. There was one particular place that actually had a 'train stop' that you could get off and then walk to the play area and we also noticed that it even had a little water play area. SO... she has another appointment for her speech evaluation in two weeks... we are going to try it out. We were unsure of how it would work with us getting off the train... we didn't want to get off that far from the car and then not be able to ride it back, so when we got back to the train station, we asked the 'conductor' about it and he said that it was fine.. that we were allowed to get on and off. SO... looks like we have plans to play next time. =)
