Learning to Drive

Driving with Daddy in the pasture. I thought it was cute.

But the wiggle worm was soon passed off to Mommy for the rest of the ride.

We are just really glad that she isn't sick anymore and back to her old self.

Lounging around

Yes...  a boppie seat is for sitting up, which she is doing a lot better at, but she also likes to lounge. =)  She was sitting on the bed while we were doing laundry and just having a good 'ole time.

It's a Party

Saturday we went to Maw maw and Paw Paw's 50th Anniversary Party.  We had a good time and Emilee was surely a social butterfly all night long.

Look at that Tongue

You wouldn't think that something so small would be so exciting, but because of Emilee having PRS it's not something that we are use to seeing.  So it's exciting for us to see her stick her tongue out.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Roseola

Sorry for the over a week gap in posts...  Where to start... Emilee has been sick since last saturday. It started by her running a low grade fever, we didn't think much of the low grade fever because most people blame that one on babies cutting some teeth.  Then on Sunday it went up to 103 before we called the doctor's office and spoke to the nurse practitioner to find out how much tylenol we could give her.  The tylenol brought it back down in the 101's but then Sunday night it reached 104.2.  So we called the doctor's office again.  Tylenol and a visit on Monday. So I called and made her an appointment on Monday.  Nothing obvious at the exam so he wanted a urine sample and some bloodwork.  They bagged her there in the office for the urine sample and we went next door to see if they could get her blood drawn.  They were uncomfortable with drawing her so to the hospital we headed. They were successful in drawing her blood, more because they have no mercy whatsoever, which I know it is their job, but she was digging around for that vein. So we got that all done and headed back home. All Emilee wanted to do was be held.  With the temperature that she was running anyone who held her had their own little heater. Then on Tuesday we thought that she was doing good.  She was home all day with Daddy and her temperature seemed to be gradually dropping, BUT when I got home from work, I noticed that she was covered in a rash... all over her face, arns and legs. Then at 3:00 am on Wednesday morning she is burning up again with a temp of 103.9.  So we had another doctor's appointment on Wednesday which chalked it all up to the Roseola virus.  Basically it's symptoms are a high fever for 3-5 days and then they break out in a rash and the rash hangs around for 4-5 days.  So we have a little speckled baby for a few days. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures but I tried to get some to document it. =)

4 Month Check Up

Emilee had her 4 month old check up today. She is doing really well with her weight gain and Dr. Robinson is very pleased.  Ever since Emilee was still in the NICU, we have been keeping track of every milliliter that she takes in to be sure that she is getting the amounts of formula that she needs. Since her weight gain is doing well, we have the okay to stop taking such good notes. =)  Which for us will make her bottles so much easier to make. She is also also being dropped down on calories for her formula.  She has been on 24 calorie formula since she came home but since she's eating well and gaining weight we asked if her calories could be dropped down to at least 22 for a little while to see how she does. So thanks to Shannon (who we are so grateful for because she's the one that gave us a ton of habermann bottles and formula) we have 18 cans of 22 calorie formula.  We are set on formula for a little while. =) Emilee also got 3 immunizations at her visit. One is oral which she ended up blowing bubbles from her nose with that one and then she got two shots.  They did her shots both at the same time, she only cried for just a minute and then was done. As you can see in the picture of her band-aids, she actually has some chunky thighs, perfect for shots.

For the rest of the afternoon she didn't even seem to care that she had shots and acted just as happy for the rest of the day as she always does.

Her stats for the month:

Weight:  13lbs 3oz
Length:   23.75 inches
Head Cir: 16.25 maybe cm
 not sure on that one

Happy and Smiling as always!!

Four Months Old

Emilee is Four Months old! It seems so crazy. She is such a happy baby. Not just for pictures but all the time. She loves to be talked to and loves to talk as well. She has discovered her voice and how to squeal. She still dislikes her carseat, but may be getting a little better. We are enjoying every minute watching her grow. We weighed her last night and she is up to 13 pounds 1 ounce. She goes for her 4 month check up and shots on Wednesday, so we'll have some official stats.

We took some pictures for her four month birthday and for fall.

I just loved her expression in the one!

Just a quick one

While I was at work Friday morning, Chance was taking Emilee for a walk.  It was kind of windy so he let her wear her hat that covers her ears.  When I got home he showed me the pictures, and I asked him...  why does that hat look so HUGE?  I went and looked...  it's a 12/24 mo. hat.  I was so excited when I finally found one that went down over her ears, I didn't even pay attention to the size.  SO... I'm still looking for another one that actually fits.

It cracks me up because when she's home with Dad, she stays in her PJ's most of the time.  Even when they met me at Taco Bell for lunch one day last week. =)

_______________________________________________

Emilee graduated... to the next size sleeper.  Saturday night she graduated into her 3 - 6 month sleepers. I was sad because it was proof that she is growing. She was really filling out the 0 - 3 month ones to a point where she could actually unbutton the buttons by her feet and would have one leg hanging out. I have a picture. =)

We also got Chance a Snuggie, he swears he's going to use it around the yard.  He even tried it out Sunday morning.

Just for smiles

Just a few pictures from yesterday afternoon.

I attemped to get a video of her laughing. She was laughing really well until she saw the camera. Then when I turned the camera off and moved it down, she started laughing again. Little Stinker.

1st OT

Emilee had her first session with OT.  She comes out to the house and is teaching Emilee and us how to learn to eat beacuse of her tongue position and cleft palate. There are techniques that we are going to have to learn that will help teach her how to learn.  Therefore it will be a learning experience for all of us. But it will be fun to watch her eat new things, even if it does make a HUGE mess. =)

The first thing that she got to do was lick this stick thing that looks kind of like a tongue depresser at the doctor's office, but it's flavored with cherry.  (It really is, because we tasted it after OT left)

Then she got some cereal

This was the end result.  She hadn't slept much in the afternoon so she was already tired and OT was late so she was really hungry by the time this all started.

Overall, we learned some good tips and some exercises about our techniques and how she has to learn to push the food down with the muscles in the back of her tongue, so we have lots to do in the next two weeks and then OT will be back to see our notes and progress and introduce new things and more flavors.

Sittin' around the camp fire

Chance, Emilee and I spent the afternoon in CNS yesterday where he and his Dad made chili and we had hotdogs.  AND..  he finally got his hair cut...  YAY!

Emilee's first time to 'sit around the camp fire'

Emilee and Grammy Tee and Paw in the background

She is such a happy baby! We are blessed!

Happy Hunting

Emilee is ready for hunting season...  I'm hoping that she is going to turn out to be a country girl!
