Weekend in Matagorda

We spent the weekend camping in Matagorda. (to see pictures from the whole trip visit my camping blog) Emilee did really on the drive out there and back, she hardly fussed at all in her carseat. I was so proud. She got to play in the water and the sand and just enjoy being outside.  We did have some rain on Friday night and Saturday morning so we were couped up in the camper, but that's ok.

She liked to watch the water.  She's getting really good at clapping and it's just so cute.

This picture was after it rained and the kiddos were playing in the water/mud behind her. Mud Post

When it was time to eat she was either in her walker or her bumbo seat.  We didn't worry about taking a highchair

Ate a little dirt and rocks

She has learned to feed the dogs on purpose

Headed to the beach (Beach Post)

This picture was when we went to the beach Sunday (Sunday Morning Beach Post)

It was nap time

Her Cute Cup

She understands the concept... but is almost always shocks her when the liquid hits her mouth.  But it's fun to watch.

She holds it so tight it makes a red ring

Working on some Hair

Even though it looks like she doesn't have much hair...  she's getting more and more.  Yesterday afternoon while we were swinging the wind was blowing from one direction and then the wind from swinging..  I thought this picture was so cute.  Also when she woke up this morning, she had some serious bedhead.  If you notice she also got a new pretty pink swing. We decided that we needed to be able to tighten the straps a little and the other one was so worn out it would tighten, so she got a new one.

On another note...  Emilee had a follow up appointment with the ECI nutritionist yesterday.  She hadn't seen Emilee since she was about four month old.  At that four month old appointment she had "all the appropriate wrinkles" so her follow up was just yesterday for that. The nutritionist was so please at the weight gain and growth.  She weighed 18 lbs 1 oz on her scale.  So her follow up appointments are only needed if I have a concern and want to see her.  She did give us some information on adding calories to Emilee's food to "beef her up" if we wanted to because she is expected to lose some weight after her surgery.  Other than that we are looking forward to our beach trip this weekend. Next weekend we leave for our week at Pedernales Falls State Park, and then the next week is her surgery.  It's going to be here before we know it.

Big Smile

Her Daddy took this one of Emilee today.  Her teeth are getting big, but that one just won't break through.  She grinds her teeth soo bad.

Skype

We have discoved how to 'skype'.  My brother, Dave, is out of town and three of his kiddos are staying with Granny Katie.  Every night they get to "see" their Daddy.  Just watching them talk to him cracks me up...  it's so entertaining, but it's so fun.  I'm glad that we discovered this just at the right time. They look forward to it every night.

Just a cool note. My Aunt has a kiddo in the military in three different time zones and they are going to start "skyping" (if that's a word)...  so she will be able to "see" all of her grandbabies. It's going to be cool.  She has already "seen" Hayden in Cali. It's so neat.

haha

The whole 'no bottle' thing was going pretty well until yesterday, Sunday.  Before her morning nap when she gets her sippy cup ---  she cried really really hard for her bottle.  It made me cry.  She would look at the cup so I would offer it to her but she would just push it away and then look me right in the face and just cry.  I knew exactly what she was crying for but she had been five days without it. So she finally calmed down and fell asleep, but it broke my heart. Then...  today was a new week.  I felt sorry for her so I was going to let her go until Wednesday before I took the afternoon nap one away, but I forgot to tell Granny that, so today Emilee didn't have a bottle all day long until 7:30 tonight....  and she did great. (So Granny says). She loves yogurt, so she ate a whole cup and a half of that for a snack.  She did get her night time bottle before bed time and as soon as I gave it to her...  this is what she did. ***see below picture***  We were "skyping" with my brother so Granny was 'holding' her. =)  We'll see how tomorrow goes while she's home with her daddy. So tonight I packed away all of her bottles except for one. I feel so sorry for her but I think that it's better to do it now as hard as it is.

Simple Things

It's the little things that make me smile.  Just seeing Emilee being able to sleep on her back with no problems. The other night I was about to turn the lights off after one last check of the monitor to find this.

Sorry for the poor quality and funny color, it was taken with my cell phone

Happy Mother's Day

My first mother's day spent with my beautiful and happy baby girl was awesome. She's my life and her beautiful smile also brightens my day no matter what else is going on.

Playing in the pool

We decided to put Granny Katie's pool up today.  And of course we picked a cool, overcast day...  add cold water from the waterhose, a three year old and a four year old and you can imagine!! --- it was chilly.  But kids don't care at all. We had to lay it out and then add 'an inch of water' to smooth out all of the wrinkles in the bottom and then fill it up the rest of the way.  When we started adding water, Emilee was in her walker in the grass, but that didn't last long.  She was hollaring at us so we brought her in too.  She didn't care that the water was sooo cold.  I had to threaten the other two to not splash too big because I'm not a fan of cold water. =)   They splashed... it was cold, but they had fun and that's all that matters!

she kept trying to put her finger inside of the hose.

Big splashes once we got out.

She was soo cold.  Her lips were blue and her little feet were so cold.  But she had fun

My little helper

Of course this picture was taken just after she almost dropped the hammer on her toe...  it was soo close.  Both Uncle Dave and I winched.

Emilee is helping us get the camper ready.  Mom bought a camper and I will be blogging our camping trips on a seperate blog.  Should be fun.  Not only can I not keep one blog up every day...  Now I'm going to have two. =)  We'll see.  At least it won't require an everyday update.

Moving along

Well..  It's going well I guess.  Poor Granny is the one that's having to deal with her during the day.  She is doing well not having her morning bottle.  We sit in the recliner and she drinks from her cup without fighting.  After yesterday morning of not drinking a whole lot this morning she did great. I normall only fix six ounces and she leaves about an ounce and a half in the bottle and that's about what she left in her cup this morning. I was happy! I even took a picture of the cup. =)  Acutally she's doing better than expected because we acidentally took away not only her first bottle of the day but also her bottle before her morning nap. But when it's time for that afternoon bottle she's ready for it. Poor thing.  If she only knew it was for her own good before the surgery. =) But other than being a little cranky in the evening, which could be due to that top tooth that refuses to break through, she's doing well. We are going camping for a week the last week of May, so she might even be bottle free for that trip.

Just a few more pictures for fun

Watch out Prissy, she'll side swipe you.

If you look really close at this next one you can see that mean 'ole tooth. I was trying to get her to laugh so I could get a picture of her palate.  She kept it hidden.

This poor little cricket...  we were surprised that she even touched it but then she grabbed it and started shaking it.  Poor thing.

And this is what I get in the mornings when she is glued to a Baby Einstein movie.
