Lazy Saturday

Emilee and I spent the day being lazy... playing, napping, playing, eating, playing, napping, playing, eating, swimming, bath and bed.  That about sums it up.  A great day! She spent the entire day in her diaper (s) (I did change her diaper throughout the day) and even put a 'little swimmer' on before the pool.  I just thought that if we were going to play outside... no clothes was the coolest. =)

Who's Reading????

OK...  so sometimes I feel like I post to my blog and there's not really anyone who reads it...  SO...  I'm asking everyone that happens to stop by my blog for a visit to leave me a brief comment.  Knowing that people are actually reading it makes me want to post more often. So PLEASE leave me just a short comment.  If you don't want to comment send me a quick email letting me know. Maybe this will motivate me to stay up an extra 20 minutes instead of going to bed and making a quick post at night.

THANKS!

Just in case you need a visual... or instructions... I am providing them. =)

At the bottom of the post you want to comment on (this one for now) click on "# comments" which will open up a pop out screen (see below).  Write me a nice little note, scroll down a little and click on the little circle next to "Name/URL" which will change just a little to allow you to enter your name. (as seen in picture two) and then click on "Publish your Comment".  I think that if you are not a google account holder that is signed in you are required to enter the letters seen on the screen.  Of course if you are signed in you can use the options that uses you account.

Thanks Again!  Hope to here from LOTS of people. =)

Big Girl Carseat

Well...  since Emilee was weighed and measured at her one year well check last Friday, I have gone from "looking" at big girl car seats to "needing to buy" a big girl car seat. Although she needs to gain a few more ounces she has reached the limit for her current carseat on length.  So we went "big girl carseat" shopping on Saturday.  She thought that it was so funny.  It was cute.

I liked this one and wished that I hadn't taken a picture of it because I bought a different one. But that's ok, it's still a CUTE smile

This was my final decision.  It's a carseat that she will be able to use until she's grown. =) Not really, but it can go up to 100 pounds. It's a five point harness for now (when she gains 10 ounces) and then you can take the harness out and use the vehicle seatbelt (you can see the red round places for that) and then when she's big enough to just need a backless booster...  the whole back comes off and it's just a booster seat with a cup holder. SO cool.  I'm excited to not have to buy another one. =) She's good to go until she's 16.. not really, but for a LONG while.  It's actually sitting in my middle row seat right now and looks so big.  When we sat it in the car, she got all excited.  It was fun. We'll see how much fun she thinks it is when I strap her in it. =)  I'm sure she'll love it... she is SOOO much better in the car seat now than she was in the beginning.

On another note...  I don't have any pictures of her trying out the ones a babies-r-us, because I left my cell phone at the other end of 1960 at burlington coat factory where the first one was.  I didn't realize this until about three hours later... BUT when I called and told the lady that it was probably sitting on the shelf right next to a gray and pink carseat because I was taking pictures...  she came back on the phone and said she had found it. So we had to go ALL the way back down 1960. For those of you who know what I'm talking about...  that's ALOT of red lights. But I got my phone back.  Woo Hoo.

One Year Check Up

Emilee had her 'one year well check' on Friday the 23rd.  She did really well.  She still has that wierd rash on her torso but it seems to be getting better.  We have been trying not to buy a whole lot of formula with hopes that we would get the OK to switch to regular milk.  That's a go.  We gave her milk that afternoon and she drank it without even acting like there was a difference.  Her Doctor had said that if she didn't like it then we could try halving it with formula and slowly giving her more milk in the mixture, but she didn't miss a beat. Drank it like a champ. =) YAY!   She is growing appropriately and staying on "her curve".  She is about half way between the 50th percentile and the line below it (not sure what it is), but she has maintain her curve from the beginning. She weighed in at 19 lbs 6 oz and 29 in long. SO CLOSE to being able to turn forward in her carseat.  She has a Teddy Bear appt on Aug 4th where she will get all the measurements done again so I'm sure she'll break the 20 lbs by then. Just in time for our trip to Lake Somerville. She also got 4 shots and then we had to go next door for some bloodwork.  She did GREAT and only cried for a minute. She was such a big girl.

If I didn't know any better

I would think that Emilee knows EXACTLY what the camera is in her room. She was playing pee-a-boo over the rail of her crib at the camera.  All it has on it is a little green light. It was so funny and it was only 5:50am. I tried to video it with my phone but it didn't work.  But I was able to take this one before I went and got her up for the day... It was SO cute. I just love how she wakes up so well and is so happy in the mornings.

Pics from Emilee's Bday party

She wasn't real sure what to do with the candle, so we had to get a little help from Jillian and Sam

Poor little cake

Just about the time we started to open presents, the clouds opened up.

Emilee had a great 1st birthday party. Thanks again to everyone who came or sent gifts!

ENT appt

Emilee had her six week follow up appt with the ENT from her surgery. She also had another hearing test which showed great improvement from the last one. She actually made it to the 3rd part this time. They didn't even do that part last time because it wasn't possible with all the fluid she had on her ears. So just that was good news. The tech said that she did SO much better. As for seeing the Doc... he said the tubes were still in place and her ears looked good... we don't have to go back for six months. YAY!

We stopped by Babies-r-us on the way home to look at big girl car seats since Emilee is getting close to weighing enough but we haven't decided on one yet. I just know that she has to get out of her current car seat at 22 lbs and she weighed 19 lbs 4.5 oz last Friday.

Other than that Emilee has her one year well check this Friday, the 23rd so we'll have an official weight and height.

I'm trying out the blogger on my phone so it will only let me upload one photo... so I picked one from my phone.

Lots of goodies

Sunday we had Emilee's Birthday Party.  It turned out great and we had fun.  She got new clothes and new toys!  Thank you to everyone who came (or sent a gift) and stayed even though it POORED down rain right when we were starting to open gifts.  I'll be posting some more pictures soon. We had a friend there taking some pictures so as soon as I get them from him I'll share. =)

Happy First Birthday!

ONE YEAR OLD!

I can't believe she's a year old (I know like every mother says).. but I just can't.  She has made me smile more times than I could ever begin to count.  I love every minute of mommy-hood. I love to watch her grow and learn and explore. She amazes me every day.  She has such a good personalilty and even a little temper but I still just adore her. Here a a few pictures from this last year.

The was when the respiratory department was in the delivery room "hammering" her back.  This was before her jaw/airway issues or cleft palate were discovered. I just love the look on her face...  "why are you hitting me with that?"

Sadly I have very few pictures of me holding her right after she was born.. like 3 or 4.  Everyone else was taking their turns before she had to go to the nursery.  This was while we still thought they would bring her back in a few minutes.  We didn't know they were going to keep her in there for 21 days.

I think this is the best "just born" picture we have and it was taken with Daddy's cell phone.

Still only a few hours old

It's a Party

Emilee's Bday party is this weekend.... I can't believe she will be a year old in 2 days.  =)  Makes me sad.

Party Invitation (If you didn't get one and would like to come... COME ON) I was really late in getting them out.

BUT...  this is what the weather says. Not that it's going to change anything.  It's July...  a little rain will probably be nice.  We'll be on the patio (that's covered) and the kids will have slip-n-slides to play on, I'm sure a little rain won't interfere with that. =)  Should be fun.

We are also doing her One Year Pictures that morning...  they fall during nap time, so hopefully those will go ok. I'm looking forward to someone else taking them. That way I'll get to be IN them. =)

Next size up

Since Emilee's clothes now have to be washed in Fragrance free detergent, I thought now was a great time to move her up a size in clothes.  I have been saying that I need to get her next size clothes out and wash them.  I think it every time I snap an outfit on that barely will snap...  so that's what we did Sunday after her nap. I got all of her 6-9 mo/9 mo clothes out of her cloest and washed them all.

This is her pile of new clothes.  Sorry for the picture quality it's from my cell phone.
Her Aunt Kristen called her a 'fashionista'.

Everyone's sick

Emilee has a presistent runny nose. Mom was sick all day Monday. Dad and Paw were sick all day Tuesday. Granny started feeling bad Tuesday and got worse Wednesday morning.  Granny also has strep throat. So Emilee went to the doctor today.  She weighed 18 lbs 9.5 oz. I'm not sure how much weight she lost after her surgery but I think the day before her surgery she was 18 lbs 1 oz.  But that's ok...  she's healthy and healed and eating like a champ. =) She'll just have to wait a little longer before that forward facing car seat. She has had a rash that we thought was just a heat rash.  The nurse practitioner seems to think that it's a form of eczema..SO..  we are fragrant free on EVERYTHING... laundry detergent, body wash, lotion...  everything... I have been washing her "stuff" all evening. All of her clothes, blankets, bed sheets, bibs, rags... Holy Cow... but that's ok.  We'll see if it gets better.  To help with that and the runny nose she is now taking Zyrtec (store brand due to the recall) at night, so we'll see what happens.  Her one year check up is on the 23rd so hopefully the rash will get better by then.

She loves her blanket (SOOO much more since her surgery), it's cute to watch her throw her head down on it.

A Day off.

I had Monday off because my office was closed.. but...  it was a HORRIBLE day.  I was sick ALL day long.  It was so disappointing.  I'm just so thankful that Granny lives next door and was willing to keep Emilee for me.  I spent my entire day in bed...  that was after I had to crawl up the stairs just to get her up for the day.  Granny brought her to see me a few times through out the day.  I was very sad that I was unable to spend my day playing with her.  Thank God for Granny's.
