A FLOWER!!!

Emilee was a little flower for Halloween!  We trick-or-treated at Granny Katie's and Aunt Barbara's house and then went to the fire station to see her Daddy.  She cried all the way to the station and then all the way home, so we called it a night.

Teddy Bear Appt

Emilee had her Teddy Bear appointment yesterday with Dr. Reddy.  This visit was a follow up from her NICU stay.  I know that she weighed 12lbs 0.5 oz on their scale.  Not sure what her length was.  I think that it was 23 inches. They think that she's doing great.  She has a follow up MRI in December and then we'll go back to the Teddy Bear Clinic in January.

She is learning to grab and hold on to her toys.

Lately she has been doing this fist/stiff arm thing.  It's almost like when you teach little kids to show you their muscles.  She does it all the time.  It's really funny

Beautiful Weather

Since the weather was so nice this weekend we went outside for a little while to let the puppies play.

Then yesterday afternoon Emilee and I along with Mom, Aunt Barbara and Taylor went for a little walk.  She was perfectly content riding in her stroller for the entire walk.

Weekend Project

Since we moved Emilee into the mini-crib, we thought that we would at least make it pretty.  So Saturday was spent making the bed skirt and Sunday was spent making the bumper pad.  But I think that it turned out so good! 

After Emilee's bath last night, I weighed her...  she is up to 12 lbs 0.5 oz. 

Chocolate... Yummy!

Another trip for Emilee to Olive Garden.  She was so good while we ate lunch today and then I let her try a mint.  It was funny.  She really didn't have a reaction as to if she thought that it was good or bad, but it was funny.  It's a little different, because instead of it touching her tongue, it was kind of just on her gums and I guess she got a taste. Then there was chocolate on her blanket. =)

Bigger Girl Bed

Mommy is sad!  We moved Emilee from her basinet into a mini-crib.  She's not quite in her "Big Girl Bed" so it's her bigger girl bed.  Last night was her first night in it and she slept really well.  We put her down at around 9:30 and she didn't get up until 6:15 this morning.  As you can tell in the middle picture below she was filling out the basinet.  I'm not quite ready for her to be sleeping out our room especially not upstairs. Maybe after her surgery which is still a while away. But we'll see.  She did wiggle enough to make it all the way into the upper corner with her head against the rail, so I'm working on making her a bumper, but for tonight we are borrowing Granny's. It wouldn't look good if she had bruises all over her head.

I attempted to take some fall pictures of her Saturday afternoon, Chance was keeping her busy while I was stacking the hay bales.

LOL...  when she laughs out loud she kind of throws her head back...  it was funny.

The dogs had been inside all morning, so I thought that we would go outside and enjoy the weather.  Although I know she's going to have ear infections until her surgery, I thought that I would try to get her to wear a hat that covered her ears a little, but apparently I don't have one that's big enough...  I'll have to get one that goes down over her ears.

Car Seat Issues...

She hates her car seat.  Ok, maybe not hate, but strongly dislikes it. If she not asleep in her carseat then she is crying.  Chance took Emilee out to CNS for the day last Thursday and then I met them out there for dinner.  She rode home with me and cried almost all the way home.  She finally cried herself asleep at Bentwater. So I let her sleep until she woke up which wasn't until about 11:30 that night.

This puts a perfect meaning to the phrase "don't wake a sleeping baby"...  I didn't!!

Trying Cereal

When Emilee went for her three month weight check appointment we asked about foods. Normally they say four month old, but because of the weight issues we have, her pediatrician is all for her starting cereal early (becuase that means more calories) at the recommendations of her palate surgeon.   I called them and they said it's ok if she likes it.  So we tried it out on Saturday night. We ran into two major problems. Problem #1 - She is trying REALLY hard to sit up right now...  so... if she is sitting at any amount of an incline she is pushing her head forward trying to sit up straight. This is part of the reason that she doens't like her car seat, she is constantly trying to sit up further. I'm going to have to fix her high chair strap before she sits in it because we can't tighten if enough to hold her in.  Problem #2 is a going to be a little more difficult. because of her PRS, her tongue is further back in her mouth, so getting the cereal onto her tongue and not in front of it is going to be a huge learning curve.  But we are going to try it about every other evening, so we'll see how it goes. The first attempt... not very well. but here are a few pictures.

3 Month Old!!

Emilee had her three month check up yesterday with Dr. Robinson.  She's doing great.  Growing well and gaining weight good too.  She weighed 11 lbs 4 oz and was 23 1/2 inches long. Dr. Robinson was pleased with her weight gain, so that's great. She is spending the day in Cut-N-Shoot with Dad, Paw & Grammy Tee.

A lap full

She likes to fall asleep whlie she is eating.  Sometimes we wonder if there is a button inside her mouth that the bottle happens to hit.  =)  But since she fell asleep in my lap, I let her take a little nap there.

But I also had the puppies at the house.  They were napping right along with Emilee.  My phone has a horrible camera on it, but if you look you can see their collars.

Olive Garden

Emilee had her first trip to Olive Garden on Friday.  She slept through the last half of our lunch and didn't even wake up when I ran to the truck in the rain carrying her in her car seat.  It was quite funny.  Here are a few pictures from my cell phone.

I'm working on trying to figure out how to blog from my phone...  So we'll see if I can get that working later.  I don't like how my phone takes pictures because after I push the button, it takes like two seconds to take and then by that time she has moved and the picture is blurry, but if I could figure it out that would be fun.

Bumbo

I bought a Bumbo seat from Target for Emilee to try out. She seems to like it.  She has been our center piece for dinner the last couple of night. Of course she only likes it for a little while (like anything), but it's fun.

We have an Eleven Pounder!

We weighed Miss Priss on Suday night and she was 11 lbs 0.5 oz.  She's getting big.  When we actually get her out of the footed sleepers she looks even bigger. =) We'll find out how long she is at her pedi appt on the 21st.

She loves her tummy time as long as she can keep her head up. Once her neck gets tired, tummy time is over.

She has also discovered the TV.  Everytime that we would lay her on the floor she would turn her head towards the TV...  she likes to watch it from the floor or from the bouncy seat.

Gettin' Chubby

Emilee is doing really well.  There are some times that she can eat a little on her own.  We let her drink an ounce or more by herself when she is really hungry and she gets it down, but when she starts to slack off we help her a little.  I weighed her last night before she went to sleep for the night and she is up to 10 lbs 14.5 oz.  She's getting to be a chunk.

She absolutely loves to lay on her back.  You lay her down and she just starts smiling.  She does ok with her tummy time, but it doesn't last long.  Sometimes I feel bad about making her do tummy time.  Because she sleep on her stomach, sometimes I think she just doesn't want to fall asleep and gets mad.

Just a picture of us.  I think that it's at a funny angle, so Chance looks a little slim.  Not that he's not skinny, but he looks kind of funny.  But that's ok. Still a good pic.

Emilee goes back to see Dr. Robinson (pedi) the morning of October 14th, then that afternoon we have an appointment with ECI at the house. Then on October 28th, she has an appointment for the Teddy Bear Clinc to follow up from the NICU with the Neonatologist that took care of her.
