Well... the surgery is over. Now we pray for a quick and somewhat painfree recovery.
Things went well today (according to the surgeons) They took her back from holding area about about 7:30 this morning and then we got to go see her in recovery at about 10:00. They repaired her palate, removed the cyst from underneath her tongue, clipped her frenulum (the little piece of cartilage above your two from teeth that attches to the lip) and then the ENT put her tubes in.
She seems to be in a fair amount of pain. There's lots of thing all over the inside of her mouth that has trauma so she hasn't had anything to drink all day today. We are hoping that will be a little better tomorrow so we can go home. Because she had so much done in her mouth, not only is her palate hurting, but she also has stitches under her tongue and her tongue is quite swollen as well. When she was first in recovery every breath she took was a little labor with a loud snore noise and her oxygen sats weren't staying up, so she left recovery with a nasal cannula. Once in her room she slept a lot of the afternoon and cried a little too. About 6:30 this evening she finally acted like she wanted to stay awake for a little while. She sat up and played with her little piano and actually smiled a little. She played a few more times this evening.
She has also developed sores in both corners of her mouth. (just something else to make her little mouth hurt) Poor thing. She hasn't drank anything since her surgery so we will have to force it a little in the morning.
She was sleeping so peacefully in the hotel before her world was turned upside down.

Are you guys using the brecht feeder(syringe with rubber tubing)? Molly wouldn't drink at all until day 3 when they finally let us go home. She decided she was thirsty and actually opened her mouth a bit. Apple juice and grape pedialyte were her drinks of choice in the beginning. We are thinking of you! Debbie H.
Poor baby!! And poor mom & dad!! Hope she's experiencing less and less pain - and hope you get to go home soon!!

Poor little girl, at least the surgery part is behind you. How is she handeling the arm restraints? Hoping tonight is better and you guys get out of there soon.
Thinking of little Emilee.... Hope she recovers without too much pain. Before you know it you will be home and she will be her usual self.
