Update on Mom's Hand
After going to Doctor's appointments almost every day last week, Dr. Cortes decided on Friday that mom's hand wasn't healing like he wanted it to and he was afraid that it was starting to get infected so he said that it was time for another surgery. Mom and I came home from that appointment Friday afternoon only to turn around with a packed bag and make our way back to the hospital for the second surgery. In this surgery all of the tissue from the top of her hand would be removed, a flap from her arm would replace that skin along with a skin graft taken from her leg would cover the remaining area on both sides of the flap. He also removed the plate from the middle bone and replaced it with two pins which makes a total of seven pins. She was in the hospital until late Tuesday evening. On Wednesday we returned to Dr. Cortes' office for a check up. He thought that it looked good (at least to him). But of course looked horrible to us. He sent us home for an entire week with instructions to unwrap and clean it every night until next wednesday. We guess it's good news that he didn't want to see her again until a week later. So hopefully this time things heal and then she can get the stitches taken out and then later the pins, and then we'll go from there.... so please once again, keeps us in your prayers and thoughts. I would attach a picture, but maybe later after it heals a little better.
