Returning to Normal Life After Ike

Of course everyone knows about Hurricane Ike. After the storm came through late Friday night, Chance had to stay at the station and work Saturday. When he came home from work on Sunday, we started working on things around the house. Aunt Barbara heard on KSTAR that they were selling generators on 1488, so my mom and I went and stood in line for about three hours to get generators for everyone around here... So Sunday we first started with Aunt Barbara, so that Uncle Frankie could watch TV. In the process, we made a smile out of a somewhat hard time... And decided that since we were getting the generators working we would be the electric company. Aunt Barbara took a few pictures of use goofing around.

Here are a few pictures of the clean up. We started with Aunt Barbara's yard, getting her tree limbs cut up so that she could haul them off. She had some bigger limbs in the back yard and her live oak tree in the front fall. We just had limbs everywhere and one huge tree at the gate into the hay field that fell down. but other than that, we made out ok.

We even had some help. Of course mom with only one hand, and Ashley came by with the two little ones, who won't remember the storm when they get older other than the stories that I'm sure they will hear, but we have pictures to prove it to them one day.

LOL... Tucker is in there somewhere.... I think the limb was a big as his Rhino was.

The whole stick picking up thing apparently got old real quick, instead she wanted to play with the chains on the swing that we took down in preparation to the storm

I hope that everyone's family did ok with the storm.
